Guardians of the Earth: Championing Environmental Responsibility

Our commitment to the environment goes beyond words.

As a leading cement company, we acknowledge the impact of our operations and are actively working to reduce our environmental footprint. We prioritise resource conservation, responsible consumption, and rejuvenation throughout our value chain, striving to mitigate climate impact and create a lasting positive effect. Embracing circularity principles, we are weaving environmental sustainability into the DNA of our business, demonstrating the power of responsible action.

Climate Change & Renewable Energy
Reducing our carbon footprint is not just a goal, it's a responsibility.

We are actively addressing climate change by manufacturing low-carbon products, significantly increasing our renewable energy share to 35% (FY 2022-23), and aiming to reach 80% by 2030.

Our impact is tangible:

Solar power plants at our facilities and wind and solar power partnerships have significantly reduced our reliance on fossil fuels.

Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Voluntary Carbon Standards (VCS) projects demonstrate our commitment to international climate goals.

Internal carbon pricing drives investments in low-carbon technologies and alternative fuels, lowering our product carbon footprint and positioning us for a carbon-neutral future.

We are harnessing the power of renewable energy:

Our 500 KWp solar plant in Cuttack and 8 MWp project in Sirohi pave the way for a clean and sustainable future.

A future where our Durg unit uses 80% renewable energy thanks to a 56 MWp solar project currently in development.

Water Management
We are water positive and Leading the Way in Resource Management.

Effective Water management is a core principle at JK Lakshmi Cement, guiding our commitment to conserve water both within and beyond our facilities. We actively work toward reducing freshwater usage and maintaining water quality, ensuring responsible stewardship.

Rainwater harvesting: We utilise scientifically designed cooling towers to capture rainwater, significantly reducing our dependence on freshwater sources.

Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD): We treat and recycle 100% of wastewater generated through Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) and Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs), ensuring compliance with ZLD requirements and maximising water reuse for essential purposes like dust suppression and greenbelt development.

Circular Economy
We believe in a future where waste becomes a resource.

Committed to the circular economy, we actively minimise waste generation, conserve resources, and reduce CO2 emissions. Waste will no longer represent discarded materials, but rather a valuable source of new potential. Driven by this vision, we have embraced the principles of the circular economy.

Within this framework, we are actively committed to:

Minimising Waste Generation

Every stage of our operation is rigorously evaluated to identify opportunities for waste reduction. We strive for continuous improvement in resource efficiency, ensuring that materials are utilised to their full potential.

Conserving Precious Resources

By minimising waste, we inherently conserve limited natural resources, such as water, raw materials, and energy. This not only benefits our own operations but also contributes to a more sustainable future for all.

Reducing CO2 Emissions

By adopting circular practices, we minimise the need for virgin materials and energy-intensive processes associated with traditional waste disposal. This translates to a significant reduction in our carbon footprint, contributing to the fight against climate change.

Net-zero organic waste management:
We treat 100% of organic waste (food, garden waste, and STP sludge) on-site, embracing a true closed-loop system.

02

Embracing circularity:
We wholeheartedly adopt the "Reduce-Reuse-Recycle" (3Rs) principle, minimising waste at every stage.

03

Responsible Plastic Management:
We are EPR compliant, achieving a 70% recycling target for plastic packaging in FY 2022-23. Discarded plastic is recycled by authorised partners.

04

Repurposing Waste:
We utilise waste as Refused Derived Fuels (RDFs) and sell e-waste and used oil to authorised recyclers.

05

Transforming Waste into Value:
We convert organic waste into nutrient-rich Vermicompost and repurpose lab-tested materials for construction.

06

Paperless Operations:
We implement digital solutions like S/4HANA SAP to reduce paper waste.

07

Closed-Loop Production:
Any waste generated during manufacturing is reutilized within the process.
